Darren is a floorlayer of some 20 years experience specialising in Karndean and Amtico installations. He has qualified as a NVQ floorlaying assessor assesing floorlayers both practicals and knowledge testing before awarding qualifications. Step 1
A floor being screeded prior to installation note the green colour of the sub-floor this is a previously applied primer essential prior to screeding and frightening how many fitters don’t prime floors. After the primer it is essential the correct screed is used in relation to the condition and type of sub-floor. As a qualified floorlayer assessor Darrens product selection knowledge is second to none. If you get this wrong the floor will fail.
Step 2
A timber sub-floor being prepared the plyboard must be of a flooring grade and fastened at 6” centres using the correct fastenings. As in the picture all plyboard joints are finished with a feather finish screed in order that the board edges will not show through the finished floor.
